Taylor Swift - Tell Me Why

30 September 2009
Just about everyone has heard about 19-year-old Taylor Swift by now. She is by no means an "unknown" anymore, but every now and then I like to include a mainstream song. Her entire album "Fearless" is one of my favorite albums of all time (and this is coming from someone who hates country music) and I can never decide which one is my favorite. "Breathe" is still my favorite (because at the time I first heard it, I could relate perfectly to it), but this is probably a close second - again, because I feel that I can totally relate to it. This song just happened to come on when driving home today, so it was fresh in my mind.
Anyway, here you go!

Tell Me Why
I took a chance, I took a shot
And you might think I'm bulletproof but I'm not
You took a swing, I took it hard
And down here from the ground, I see who you are

I'm sick and tired of your attitude
I'm feeling like I don't know you
You tell me that you love me then you cut me down

And I need you like a heartbeat
But you know you got a mean streak
Makes me run for cover when you're around

And here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why?

You could write a book on how
To ruin someone's perfect day
Well, I get so confused and frustrated
Forget what I'm trying to say, oh

I'm sick and tired of your reasons
I got no one to believe in
You tell me that you want me, then push me around

And I need you like a heartbeat
But you know you got a mean streak
Makes me run for cover when you're around

Here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why?

Why do you have to make me feel small
So you can feel whole inside?
Why do you have to put down my dreams
So you're the only thing on my mind?

I'm sick and tired of your attitude
I'm feeling like I don't know you
You tell me that you want me then cut me down

I'm sick and tired of your reasons
I've got no one to believe in
You ask me for my love then you push me around

Here's to you and your temper
Yes, I remember what you said last night
And I know that you see what you're doing to me
Tell me, why? Why? Tell me, why?

I take a step back, let you go
I told you I'm not bulletproof
Now you know

KSM - Unpredictable

29 September 2009
I'm pretty sure this is a fairly new band, but I had a chance to listen to some of their songs this past week, and I just love the lyrics of this song. It's just one of those songs that everyone can relate to at one point or another. "Sometimes you think you know, but life is so unpredictable." It's kind of a combination between how life is unpredictable and how other times it's just ironic. But hey, when it comes down to it, life really is rather Unpredictable!

Unpredictable
Never sure what’s in the future
Never know, gotta wait and see
Always ends with a different picture
Than you thought it would turn out to be, yeah
Make a plan then everything changes
Circumstance out of your control
Your whole world just rearranges
That’s how it goes • Just when you’re ready to rock
Suddenly the power goes out
Just when you’re not supposed to talk
Somebody shouts
"Hey, life’s so..."

Chorus:
Unpredictable
Ya never see what’s comin’
The future’s all the sudden, yeah
Inexplicable
Sometimes you think you know
But life’s so
Unpredictable
Like rain on a sunny day
Things don’t always go your way
Inexplicable
It all turns upside down

Surprise party, read the invitation
You find out it was yesterday
The song you sing for a competition
The other band, they choose the same, yeah
Sometimes when you least expect it
Good things can happen, too
You get a call last minute, hot concert tickets
Waiting there for you
Just when you think you’re sure
No solution to be found
Just when you think it won’t work
It all works out
"Hey, life’s so..."

Chorus:
Unpredictable
Ya never see what’s comin’
The future’s all the sudden, yeah
Inexplicable
Sometimes you think you know
But life’s so
Unpredictable
Like rain on a sunny day
Things don’t always go your way
Inexplicable
It all turns upside down

Unpredictable
You never see what’s comin’
Inexplicable
It happens all the sudden

Chorus:
Unpredictable
Ya never see what’s comin’
The future’s all the sudden, yeah
Inexplicable
Sometimes you think you know
But life’s so
Unpredictable
Like rain on a sunny day
Things don’t always go your way
Inexplicable
It all turns upside down

Vertical Horizon - The Middle Ground

28 September 2009
Have you ever been in a relationship where the one you are dating seems to be into the relationship one day, and then totally distant the next day? And it's just this constant back and forth and you never know what kind of day it's going to be? That's what I thought of when I first heard this song. Vertical Horizon is no new thing in the music scene, but they do have a new album coming out this year. I got it last week and listened through it today and this one stuck out more than any of the others because of the chorus. "Take me in or take me out; put me on if you must or just put me down... I'm done with the middle ground."

The Middle Ground
You illuminate me
You're the color I see
You're all that shines above
Through the dark and distrust
All the doubt in your eyes
All the stars in mine
Is it the distance you need
Or is it just me

I know you're awake
'Cause you shake when you cry
As long as I wait I've got nothing but time

[Chorus:]
Take me in or just take me out
Put me on if you must or just put me down
'Cause I'm done
I'm all worn out
We're either alive or a lie
I'm done with the middle ground

You're the wind at my back
You're the courage I lack
But you live your life like a war
What are you fighting for

Your touch is the water that gives and takes away
So I wait in the gutter for another rainy day

[Chorus]

You close your eyes to see the sun
And all the things you've never done
They all come out in the dark
And once again just break your heart
I know you're awake
'Cause you shake when you cry
I'll hold you I'll hold you but you've got to decide

[Chorus]

Drew Seeley - Her Voice

27 September 2009
Most people haven't heard of Drew Seeley. He's not exactly mainstream. But he co-wrote a lot of the songs from the original High School Musical and his voice was actually blended with Zac Efron's voice for the first movie. He has done a lot of stuff with Disney, including the HSM tour. Anyway, I just found out that he is apparently starring as Prince Eric on the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid, and this is a new song written by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater for Broadway. This version isn't quite the Broadway version, as it has been jazzed up, or "pop-ified" or whatever you want to call it. But I think it's kind of cool that in the Broadway version, Prince Eric actually gets a song. Here you go!

--I also just found a link to the real Broadway version that isn't jazzed up, so below the Drew Seeley version is the Broadway version as well! The lyrics are the Broadway lyrics.

Her Voice
Where did she go?
Where can she be?
When will she come again
Calling to me?
Calling to me...
Calling to me...

Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like the shimmer of the wind upon the water
Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like the glimmer of the sunlight on the sea
Somewhere there’s a girl
Who’s like a swell of endless music
Somewhere she is singing
And her song is meant for me

And her voice
It’s sweet as angels sighing
And her voice
It’s warm as summer sky
And that sound
It haunts my dreams
And spins me ‘round
Until it seems
I’m flying...
Her voice

I can sense her laughter
In the ripple of the waves against the shoreline
I can see her smiling
In the moonlight as it settles on the sand
I can feel her waiting
Just beyond the pale horizon
Singing out a melody too lovely to withstand

And her voice
It’s there as dusk is falling
And her voice
It’s there as dawn steals by
Pure and bright, it’s always near
All day, all night
And still I hear it calling...
Her voice

Strange as a dream...
Real as the sea...
If you can hear me now
Come set me free...
Come set me free!

Creed - Rain

26 September 2009
Creed was one of the first bands I ever listened to. Their album "Human Clay" was one of the first CDs I ever owned. So, these guys are not anything new - they've been around for over 10 years. I hadn't heard anything by them in quite some time and came across this new single and of course, I like it. I thought of this song today because my friend got baptized and one of the lines in this song talks about "washing everything away" so I thought this was a fitting song for the day. The song quality isn't the best, but you can at least get the idea of what it sounds like!

Rain
Can you help me out, can you lend me a hand?
It's safe to say that I'm stuck again
Trapped between this life and the light
I just can't figure out, how to make it right...

A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more... something more...

I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
With every tomorrow comes another life...

I feel it's gonna rain, for days and days
(I feel it's gonna rain)
I tried to figure out, I can't understand...
What it means... to be whole again...
Trapped between the truth and the consequence
Nothing's real, nothing's making sense...

A thousand times before
I've wondered if there's something more... something more...

I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
So let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's going to rain like this... rain like this... rain like this...

Fall down, wash away my yesterdays
Fall down, so let the rain fall down on me...

I feel it's gonna rain like this for days
Let it rain down and wash everything away
I hope that tomorrow the sun will shine
I feel it's going to rain like this... rain like this...

So let the rain fall...
I feel it's gonna rain like this... rain like this...
So let the rain fall down...
I feel it's gonna rain like this...

I feel it's gonna rain.

Mika - Blue Eyes

25 September 2009
If you have heard of Mika, you probably know him for his "Grace Kelly" song that came out a few years ago, but his other stuff is quite addictive as well. He has a really different style and an unusual voice, so each time you hear him you know "Hey, that's Mika." "Blue Eyes" is kind of like a sad story in a happy tune. This girl is sad and he knows it and is implying to her that she can do better, and you would think that the song would have a more somber feel; but it is actually a very danceable song. Anyway, here you go!

Blue Eyes
Ohh, your heart is broken
To your surprise
You're sick of crying
For blue eyes
So tired of living
Misunderstood
Think hard woman
I think you should

Come, sorrow is so peculiar
It comes in a day, then it'll never leave you
You take a pill, wonder if it will fix you
They wonder why sorrow has never left you

I'm talkin' bout blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter, matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter matter
so blind, so blind
What's the matter, matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter with you?

Ohh, your heart got broken
On the underground
Go find your spirit
In a lost and found
Oh I've been watching
How you behave
Not much like a lover
More like a slave

Come, sorrow is so peculiar
It comes in a day, then it'll never leave you
You take a pill, wonder if it will fix you
They wonder why sorrow has never left you

I'm talkin' bout blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter, matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter matter
so blind, so blind
What's the matter, matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter with...

Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter matter
so blind, so blind
What's the matter, matter
Blue eyes, blue eyes
What's the matter with you?
What's the matter with you?
What's the matter with you?

Steve Appleton - The Bright Side

24 September 2009
I came across this guy accidentally. I thought I had clicked on something different, and all of a sudden this song started playing and I thought, "hey wait a minute... I really like this guy! Who is he??" Turns out, he's an up and coming musician from Surrey. "The Bright Side" is probably my favorite, but all of his other songs have really great beats as well. Here are the lyrics and the song!!

The Bright Side
So I'll tell you what I don't believe in
Is you calling me immature and naïve when
You're the one making these false accusations
Suggest you leave the room before I loose my patience
Hesitation, before she speaks to me
Back tracking on attractions we've built recently
She asked me how the love slipped by, but, but
I had my head up where the helicopter roams the sky

And I'll be leaving in no time honey, just don't push me
I find this whole situation funny, I just wish you could see

I don't want you, I don't think I care
This shoulda ended way back when, ain't no love to repair
I don't want you, no I don't care
So I sit on the bright side, cus ain't no love other there

So you turn and walk away
To face the window you been looking out through out today's events,
Corrupt lenses lead to broken fences
Holes in the doors among some other offences
So back down stop talking so loud
I'm sick all this stick about me playing around
So she ask me how the love slipped by, but, but
I couldn't care about these feelings she was feeling tonight

I'll be leaving in no time honey, just don't push me
I find this whole situation funny, I just wish you could see

I don't want you, I don't think I care
This shoulda ended way back when, ain't no love to repair
I don't want you, no I don't care
So I sit on the bright side, cus ain't no love other there

I'll be leaving in no time honey, just don't push me
I find this whole situation funny, I just wish you could see

I don't want you, I don't think I care
This shoulda ended way back when, ain't no love to repair
I don't want you, no I don't care
So I sit on the bright side, cus ain't no love other there

One Republic - All the Right Move

23 September 2009
I don't know why I like this song. This one is more for the music and the beat. The words are alright, but it definitely has a catchy chorus... one of those ones where you catch yourself hours later singing just the first line or two of it. Anyway, here are the lyrics and below the lyrics is the song.

All the right friends in all the wrong places
So yeah, we're going down
They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces
So yeah, we're going down

Just paint the picture of a perfect place
They've got it better than what anyone's told you
They'll be the King of Hearts, and you're the Queen of Spades
And we'll fight for you like we were your soldiers

I know we've got it good
But they've got it made
And the grass is getting greener each day
I know things are looking up
But soon they'll take us down
before everybody's knowing our name.

They've got all the right friends in all the wrong places
So yeah, we're going down
They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces
So yeah, we're going down

They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going
Yeah, we're going down
They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going
Yeah, we're going down

Do you think I'm special?
Do you think I'm nice?
Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces?
Between the noise you hear
And the sound you like
Are we just sinking in an ocean of faces?

It can be possible that rain can fall,
Only when it's over our heads
The sun is shining everyday, but it's far away
All the world is dead.

They've got,
They've got all the right friends in all the wrong places
So yeah, we're going down
They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces
So yeah, we're going down

They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going
Yeah, we're going down
They said, everybody knows, everybody knows where we're going
Yeah, we're going down

It doesn't matter what you see.
I know i could never be
Someone that looks like you.
It doesn't matter what you say
I know i could never face
someone that could sound like you.

All the right friends in all the wrong places
So yeah, we're going down
They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces
So yeah, we're going down

All the right friends in all the wrong places
So yeah, we're going down
They've got all the right moves and all the wrong faces
So yeah, we're going down

They said, everybody knows everybody knows where we're going
Yeah we're going down
They said, everybody knows everybody knows where we're going
Yeah we're going down

Yeah we're going down
Yeah we're going down

All the right moves, hey
Yeah, we're going down
All the right moves, hey
Yeah, we're going down

Honor Society - Full Moon Crazy

22 September 2009
I found this group a few weeks ago and they remind me of the "boy band days" but hey, I always did like the boy bands. I put on their album while cleaning the apartment and I must admit - they've got some catchy tunes. Full Moon Crazy is probably one of my favorites. I don't know why, but I love it when a line of lyric flows incredibly well with the music. The line "all the things you put me through" is said incredibly fast, yet works with the beat. Those are the kind of lines I'm talking about. And a funny little side note - when I first heard this song, I thought it was called "Full Blown Crazy." I think I almost like that title better...!

Full Moon Crazy
I don't know what you thought
This was gonna be
You're standing there, you're looking good
But I don't wanna see you, oh, oh, oh
The walls are moving in closer
I head for the door
But you're standing in front of the handle
I can't handle the way that you smiled up at me
I don't wanna see you, oh, oh, oh
You're up, you're down
You smile, you frown, you're unpredictable
You bring me too much stress, baby
So put yourself in check, ha

I don't need no drama in my life
You're not so special anyway
In fact you're getting much colder
Acting bipolar, ruining my day
I don't need no drama in my life
I had enough of you
All the things you put me through
Cause you're flaky, you're shaky
Need someone to save you
Girl, you're full moon crazy, yeah, oh

Got to my car, I dropped my keys
Chasing after me
Then she said, burning red
You'll be sorry, oh, oh, oh
You threw my keys at me and I can't believe
That you had such a crazy reaction
Unattractive, the way that you acted
Now I gotta leave, oh, oh, oh
In breath you yell, deep inside you can tell
That you got me on my knees
You're wanted in the streets
And I'm begging you to leave, baby

I don't need no drama in my life
You're not so special anyway
In fact you're getting much colder
Acting bipolar, ruining my day
I don't need no drama in my life
I had enough of you
All the things you put me through
Cause you're flaky, you're shaky
Need someone to save you
Girl, you're full moon crazy

Remember when we met
When everything was perfect
What happened to that girl?
Will she ever come back?
My heart is always open
The moon's in position
So make you're decision

I don't need no drama in my life
You're not so special anyway
In fact your getting much colder
Acting bipolar, ruining my day
You've got to get over your pride
You're not that special anyway
In fact you're getting much colder
Acting bipolar, ruining my day
I don't need no drama in my life
I had enough of you
All the things you put me through
Cause you're flaky, you're shaky
Need someone to save you
You're full moon crazy
You're full moon crazy, baby
Said you're full moon crazy
You're full moon crazy, yeah

Aladdin/Clay Aiken - Proud of Your Boy

20 September 2009
The original storyline of Aladdin gave Aladdin a mother, and he was constantly disappointing her. After one particular disappointment, Aladdin goes off and sings "Proud of Your Boy." The entire song talks about how one day he will make his mother proud. He doesn't know how, but he will make her proud one way or another. The song is awesome and I'm so sad that it didn't make it into the actual movie, but when the storyline gets changed so drastically, it makes it difficult to keep. However, a few years ago Clay Aiken recorded the song and this is the outcome.

Proud of your boy
I'll make you proud of your boy
Believe me, bad as I've been, Ma
You're in for a pleasant surprise

I've wasted time
I've wasted me
So say I'm slow for my age
A late bloomer, Okay, I agree

That I've been one rotten kid
Some son, some pride and some joy
But I'll get over these lousin' up
Messin' up, screwin' up times

You'll see, Ma, now comes the better part
Someone's gonna make good
Cross his stupid heart
Make good and finally make you
Proud of your boy

Tell me that I've been a louse and loafer
You won't get a fight here, no ma'am
Say I'm a goldbrick, a goof-off, no good
But that couldn't be all that I am

Water flows under the bridge
Let it pass, let it go
There's no good reason that you should believe me
Not yet, I know, but

Someday and soon
I'll make you proud of your boy
Though I can't make myself taller
Or smartter or handsome or wise

I'll do my best, what else can I do ?
Since I wasn't born perfect like Dad or you
Mom, I will try to
Try hard to make you
Proud of your boy

Sara Haze - Every Heart

19 September 2009
Sara Haze is still under the radar and most people haven't heard of her yet, though I believe she will continue to climb up the mainstream ladder. I don't even remember how I happened upon her myspace page, but I immediately fell in love with this song. This is one of the songs where I love not just the music or lyrics, but I love both equally. I love songs with good piano, and this song has lyrics that at some point in the song, everyone can relate to. I can't include the actual song on here, but I will include the myspace link to listen to the song. Below are the lyrics. Enjoy!

A summer sunburn the smile you earned
Stumbles and falls, the lessons you’ve learned.
Choices you’ve made; your first heartbreak.
Getting too old for the batman cave.
Simpler times, wanting to fly,
Mesmerized by Christmas lights.
Holding out. Giving in.
All the ‘what ifs’ and ‘might have beens’.

Every heart has a story to tell
Some dreams have wings some are torn at the seams
And just sit there on the shelf
If you were to walk in my shoes
You’d see, we are all the same
So find the love inside yourself.
Cuz every heart, has a story to tell.

The starburst rush your first real crush.
You’re bit by a dog, a yellow school bus
Sweet 16, that concert you missed,
Your best friend and your first kiss.
Learning to fall, wanting it all,
Believing in Santa Claus,
A letter you wrote, a promise you broke,
Knowing when to say yes and when to say no.

Every heart has a story to tell
Some dreams have wings some are torn at the seams
And just sit there on the shelf
If you were to walk in my shoes
You’d see, we are all the same
So find the love inside yourself.
Cuz every heart, has a story to tell.

So far away, life can take you.
Never forget the hearts that shade you.

The love of your life, the 4th of July,
the times that you laughed so hard you cried.
The first day of ballet, hardships you faced,
all the memories along the way.
The love you lost. The love you’ve made,
makes us who we are today.

Every heart has a story to tell
Some dreams have wings some are torn at the seams
And just sit there on the shelf
If you were to walk in my shoes
You’d see, we are all the same
So find the love inside yourself.
Cuz every heart, has a story to tell.

This is my heart, this is my story to tell.
Every heart, has a story to tell.

Ingrid Michaelson - The Chain

18 September 2009
Ingrid Michaelson is probably best known for her song "The Way I Am", but I just got her full album, "Be OK", the other day and listened through it. One of my favorites off of "Be OK" is called The Chain. It actually doesn't have a whole lot of lyrics, but it is sort of sung in a round as if her echo is singing with her or something. So when combining both sets, it just has this really cool effect. This is definitely one that is more about listening than reading the lyrics, so while I will include the lyrics like always, I highly encourage you to actually listen to it as well. Enjoy!

The sky looks pissed.
The wind talks back.
The bones are shifting in my skin and you my love are gone.

My room seems wrong.
The bed won't fit.
I can not seem to operate and you my love are gone

(Chorus)
So glide away and so be healed and promise not to promise anymore and if you come around again then I will take, then I will take the chain from off the door

I'll never say, I'll never love
but I dont say a lot of things and you my love are gone

(Chorus X6)

"Glee" - Take A Bow

17 September 2009
So there's this new TV show out called "Glee." It's about a high school Glee club, and I still have yet to see a full episode (there have only been 3 so far); but the music in it is awesome (at least 2 new songs each episode it seems). They take mainstream and Broadway songs and basically re-do them for this Glee club. One song in particular that they re-do is Rihanna's "Take A Boy." The irony in this is that I am not the biggest fan of the song when Rihanna sings it (though I do love most of her songs), but I for some reason am absolutely in love with this version of "Take A Bow." So, without further adieu, here are the lyrics and the song.

Ohh, how about a round of applause,
Hey, standin' ovation,
Ooh ohh yeah, yeah yeah yeah.

You look so dumb right now,
Standin' outside my house,
Tryin' to apologize,
You?re so ugly when you cry,
Please, just cut it out.

Don?t tell me you?re sorry 'cause you?re not,
Baby when I know you?re only sorry you got caught,
But you put on quite a show (oh),
You really had me goin',
But now it?s time to go (oh),
Curtain?s finally closin',
That was quite a show (oh),
Very entertainin',
But it?s over now (but it's over now),
Go on and Take A Bow, ohh ohh.

Grab your clothes and get gone (get gone),
You better hurry up before the sprinklers come on (come on),
Talkin? 'bout girl, I love you, you?re the one,
This just looks like a re-run,
Please, what else is on.

And don?t tell me you?re sorry 'cause you?re not (mmm),
Baby when I know you?re only sorry you got caught (mmm),
But you put on quite a show (oh),
You really had me goin',
But now it?s time to go (oh),
Curtain?s finally closin',
That was quite a show (oh),
Very entertainin',
But it?s over now (but it's over now),
Go on and take a bow, ohh.

And the award for the best lier goes to you (goes to you),
For makin' me believe that you could be faithful to me,
Let's hear your speech OUT? (But you put on quite a show
You really had me goin'),

But now it?s time to go (oh),
Curtain?s finally closin',
That was quite a show (oh),
Very entertainin',
But it?s over now (but it's over now),
Go on and take a bow.

But it's over now

The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

16 September 2009
Today's song is by The Script. They aren't *super* popular yet, but this song is their "big hit" that has been on the radio. I don't know why, but I really like the lead singer's voice. There are certain bands who just have great - and unique - lead singers, and to me, this is one of those bands. And I actually really like the lyrics because it paints a picture for me. Sometimes songs just have a good beat, but if you listen to the lyrics, they don't actually make sense. But in looker more into this song and really reading the lyrics, I can imagine the whole song taking place.

The lyrics are as follows (with a link to the song at the end):

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I'm not gonna move
Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand
saying, "If you see this girl can you tell her where I am?"

Some people try to hand me money, they don't understand
I'm not broke I'm just a broken-hearted man
I know it makes no sense but what else can I do
How can I move on when I'm still in love with you?

'Cause If one day you wake up and find you're missing me
and your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinkin maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving

Policeman says, "Son you can't stay here"
I said, "There's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year"
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows
If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go

'Cause if one day you wake up and find you're missing me
and your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinkin maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving,
I'm not moving, I'm not moving

People talk about the guy that's waiting on a girl
There are no holes in his shoes but a big hole in his world

Maybe I'll get famous as the man who can't be moved
Maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news
And you'll come running to the corner
'Cause you'll know it's just for you
I'm the man who can't be moved

Chorus 2x

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag I'm not gonna move

Francesca Battistelli - Free to Be Me

15 September 2009
Okay, so sometimes I think I'll put more than one song up each day, depending on the day. Today is going to be one of those days. I just re-discovered this song, and I absolutely love it! Her name is Francesca Battistelli and she's more of a Christian singer, but her stuff is awesome. The lyrics to this song are just great "pick-me-up" lyrics that just put you in a good mood. At least, that's what it does to me! It's a good uplifting song - one to listen to when you're down or discouraged. Anyway, here are the lyrics and below it is a link to the song!

At twenty years of age I'm still looking for a dream
A war's already waged for my destiny
But You've already won the battle
And You've got great plans for me
Though I can’t always see

(Chorus)
‘Cause I got a couple dents in my fender
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I'm so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I'm free to be me

When I was just a girl I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right, and I'd make it here somehow
But things don't always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt

(Chorus)

And you’re free to be you

Sometimes I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I've got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me
That I've got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe
Even though

(Chorus)

Colbie Caillat + Jason Mraz - Lucky

This song has been out maybe a year or so, and it is an awesome duet. I was going to try and find the legitimate source that I heard the story behind this song, but alas, I cannot. However, what I'm told is that Colbie loves Jason's music and he loves her music and so they decided to write a song together. And I'm pretty sure they wrote it long-distance too, and that's probably how they came up with the idea that they did. But however they came up with it, it's a great song. Here are the lyrics:

Do you hear me,
I'm talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music fill the air
I'll put a flower in your hair
though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooooh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Also, as many of you may know, I hate music videos. I tried to get into them when I was younger, but each time I'd watch the music video of a song I liked, I ended up not liking the song afterward. Music videos usually change the meaning of songs to me, so I usually try to avoid them. However, I did actually watch this one, and liked it... so here's the video too, if you feel so inclined. Enjoy!

Matt Nathanson - Come on Get Higher

14 September 2009
So I have no idea why, but I love this song. It just has a really catchy chorus and the flow is awesome. I just looked up the lyrics for the first time and with it I found some people's interpretation of certain parts of the song:
-------------------------------------------------------
If I could walk on water
If I could tell you what's next
Make you believe
Make you forget

If he could show her in some grandiose fashion (such as walking on water) to make her believe they can work things out, he would do it. He wants to make her forget the bad times that led to the breakup and believe that they can work through them...

I miss the sound of your voice
The loudest thing in my head
And I ache to remember
All the violent, sweet, perfect words that you said

It's been awhile since the breakup as evidenced by him having trouble remembering all the little details. He's trying hard to retain those memories. And in his rosy retrospection, even her "violent" words (the yelling, the bad) are tolerable. He misses it all.

I miss the pull of your heart
I taste the sparks on your tongue
I see angels and devils and God when you come on
hold on...

They have an undeniable chemistry together (sparks) and it was a deep, true and passionate love.

Come on get higher
Come on and get higher
Because everything works love
Because everything works in your heart

He is saying if it's real love, then they should be able to work it all out. Love supersedes all. Or it does in theory.
---------------------------------------------
I just think it's a really good song! This song is relatively new. As in, the last year or so. Expect much more to come from Matt Nathanson.

Come On Get Higher - Matt Nathanson

Day 1

I have decided to create a blog solely for my music listening habits. Each day (hopefully) I will post a new song that is currently stuck in my head. It may be on the current Billboard 100 or might be a song from 15 years ago. But it will always be a song that I am currently in love with! We'll see how well this goes...
